Mujela pendant lamp

Mujela lamp is a pendant lamp hand weaved with reed grass around a copper disc.

The Mujela lamp is a duet of Nepal’s traditional crafts – basket weaving and metal craft. Exploring Nepal’s richness in natural fibres, we worked with a master weaver from mid-western Nepal to shape the body in reed grass and a metalsmith from Kathmandu who hammered the central metal disc to create this delicate and light lighting piece. Tradition meets design.

Minimalistic decor with multicultural influences

Our artisans of the handcrafted copper lamps are the coppersmiths of the Kathmandu valley. Their ancestors are the craftsmen behind the intricate copper and brass work in the city’s temples. Using skills that date back to the 13th century, their work is one of the most striking features in the architecture of Nepal
