Kans grass mat Ø70 Halfmoon brown

Biodegradable round mats for wall decoration and dining accessories. Made from the fibres of Kans grass, it is hand weaved in coils by a group of indigenous women known as ‘ Tharu ‘ in the village ‘ Dang.’

Kans grass is a perennial grass, growing up to three meters in height. It grows in the wilderness of the terai region in Nepal. The fibre extracted from these grasses is solid and flexible. Therefore, it is broadly used for the manufacture of cordage, ropes, mats and baskets. In Nepal, Kans grass is harvested to thatch roofs and fence vegetable gardens.
